TESOL Live

SMU TESOL has a 21 year history of developing quality English teachers. In 2018 we will continue our tradition of excellence while embracing both up to date research in the field, but also utilizing the most efficient technology to bring teacher training courses to preservice and in service teachers not only in Seoul, but throughout Korea and around the world.

TESOL Live is a fully online 100 hour training course made up of four modules designed to introduce the key concepts needed to be an effective English language educator in the Korean context.

Skills & Systems

E
In Skills and Systems (S&S) students will look at digital resources and techniques for teaching the four macro skills; listening, speaking, reading and writing, as well as integrating language systems instruction into online lessons; grammar, lexis, language functions and pronunciation.

Lesson Design Laboratory

M
In Lesson Design Laboratory (LDL) students will work independently as both students of asynchronous lessons and creators of them. Examples of asynchronous lessons will be provided to give trainees the students’ perspective of this mode of study. Every other week in class together, trainees will critically reflect on the effectiveness of the lessons while designing their own video lessons for students.
